Psychotherapist Mihaela Oancea

Those who know me are aware that psychology is not just a profession for me, but also a passion. I have always been fascinated by discovering and understanding how we end up emotionally and mentally in uncharted territory, and how we can move from suffering to a state of well-being; how difficult experiences, such as abuse or neglect, can be healed; how we can regain trust in others and in life; and how we can repair or restore balance in a relationship…

“Through self-compassion, we show ourselves the same kindness and care we would show a good friend.”

- KRISTIN NEFF

You can change your life by starting therapy

  • Do you feel overwhelmed by stress or are you already experiencing burnout? Then the individual psychotherapy sessions we have together can be your source of energy, a chance to recharge, and a way to regain the balance you’ve lost—or perhaps feel you’ve never had.
  • Are you going through a difficult time, overwhelmed by intense emotions, and feeling alone in your suffering? Our psychotherapy sessions can be the place where you find understanding and compassion, where you feel heard, where you are no longer alone with your suffering, and where you are helped to work through it.
  • Are tranquility, calm, and peace states you’ve longed for? Then our sessions can be a space where we hold your intense emotions together so we can invite peace, calm, and tranquility to be present, connect with them, and make them last.
  • Do your relationships with family, your partner, friends, or colleagues worry you, or do they seem like a constant crisis or conflict? Relationships are one of the most difficult aspects of our lives. Building our relationship together can serve as a foundation, an anchor for your difficult relationships.
  • Do you need to learn new skills in decision-making, time management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution, or to work better as part of a team? Our sessions can serve as a laboratory for trying new things, finding the courage to behave differently, saying no, setting boundaries to avoid conflict, prioritizing tasks, and understanding how we fit in and what makes us unique within a team.
  • Are you going through a period of change of any kind (changing jobs, moving house, relocating to a new city or country, divorce, breakups, your children leaving home, etc.) and chaos has become the new “order” in your life? Are there too many challenges, and do you feel unsure of where to start or how to bring your life back within manageable limits? These changes often make it harder for us to cope with each day. Our sessions can provide a supportive environment for dialogue and objectivity, where we can increase your tolerance for these changes so that, little by little, you can organize the chaos, re-anchor yourself in your life, and feel at home again.
  • Have you been feeling angry for a long time? Do you often get irritated with those close to you? Do you lack patience, and no matter how hard you try to control yourself, you can’t—only to end up feeling guilty afterward? In psychotherapy sessions, I won’t judge you or try to fix you; we’ll approach these situations with understanding, acceptance, and compassion because, more often than not, it’s a matter of suffering that needs to be addressed.
  • Did you have a difficult childhood? Were you abused and/or neglected? Our psychotherapy sessions are a safe space where the child within you can cry, get angry, and do the things you couldn’t do as a child—and then be accepted with warmth and compassion, gaining the strength to rediscover your smile, your joy, and, above all, your self-worth

Other issues that may be addressed in our psychotherapy sessions include: post-traumatic stress, extreme stress, domestic or sexual violence, grief or loss, anxiety, depression, addictions, low self-esteem, weight loss, smoking cessation, physical suffering or a long-term illness, lack of concentration at work, worries, frequently thinking about the worst-case scenario, a prolonged feeling of helplessness, panic attacks, loneliness and isolation, pregnancy and abortion, crises, and unemployment issues.

"I think the most important thing, beyond discipline and creativity, is the courage to take risks."

"I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate ability to overcome trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but also that the healing process can serve as a catalyst for a profound awakening—a gateway that opens onto a genuine emotional and spiritual transformation."

“I can’t imagine how I would have coped with what many of my patients have endured, and I see their symptoms as a source of their strength—the ways in which they have learned to survive. And despite all their suffering, many have become loving partners and parents, teachers, nurses, scientists, and exemplary artists.”

"You never realize how strong you are until being strong is your only option."
